Climate Summer is an internship program for young adults directed at addressing society’s dependence on deadly energy and its influence on climate change. It is composed of five teams around New England that will travel over 1,000 miles exclusively by bicycle over the summer, with no support vehicles. The teams stay in communities for approximately one week at a time, during which they learn from, support, highlight and connect residents, leaders and organizations to find solutions to deadly energy and climate change. The 28 riders see deadly energy (coal, oil and natural gas) as energy that directly causes deaths, and promotes healthy energy sources such as solar, wind and geothermal power. The program works to build on the movement addressing climate change and promote an end to federal fossil fuel subsidies.
