Healthy Connecticut Alliance is a group of concerned Bridgeport and Connecticut residents who are calling for PSEG, the energy company that owns Bridgeport Harbor Station, to retire the coal plant.  It envisions a healthy and sustainable future for Bridgeport communities, a future that is 'beyond coal'.

A public hearing, hosted by DEEP (Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection) was held on May 14. About 150 people attended. Over 2/3 of the comments supported retiring the coal plant. The HCA is awaiting the review of the comments, expressed at the hearing as well as submitted afterwards, by DEEP and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). A decision will be made after the review as to whether the operating permit for the plant will be granted or not.
